LAUGH A LITTLE
Can you remember the last time you laughed out loud....I mean not just a giggle but uncontrollable until your cheeks hurt or your stomach muscles couldn't take it anymore...& perhaps even to the point of maybe peeing your pants...?????
Hilariously funny...??? Well I can remember the last time this happened to me, it was last Thursday afternoon with my dearest girlfriends & family while shooting the promo for Knickers & tea cups...We were sitting on the beautiful wooden chair & there may have had 1 too many people on it, but hey it's not like we weigh a heavy amount & I'm only half way pregnant..... Tim took the pics & as he said 1, 2 & 3 we heard a crack & the next minute the seat gave way but Julie & I were on the end & jumped down strait away & continued to laugh uncontrollably on the ground.....can you remember the last time..??? Laughter really is the best medicine to life just as camp quality has that catch phrase as should we....Do take the time to LAUGH A LITTLE or ALOT...it's the best thing going & don't take life too seriously because you miss the opportunities so just laugh a little or alot.......& be thankful for the place where you are planted for this season & have an attitude of gratitude for what you Do HAVE & not what you DON'T have.....laugh a little...!

DAY #4 @ MBFWA
Day four did not disappoint in fact it was a show stopping day in Sydney....Another eight of the best took to the catwalk BLESS'ED ARE THE MEEK, SUBOO, SASS & BIDE, THE INNOVATORS, PHOENIX KEATING, HARYONO SETIADI, EMMA MULHOLLAND, SHAKUHACHI.....
All shows were AMAZING to watch & its my greatest pleasure to bring you the top 4 of my fav's on day 4....
SUBOO made the shift from resort-focused beach brand to Stylish & sleek...There was not a beach umbrella or printed kaftan in sight in the new SS 13/14... Cocktail dresses, sharply tailored dress-shorts & minimal shirting appealed to the city chick...Full skirted party dresses , sculpted cap sleeves and nifty sequinned prints softened the otherwise sci-fi vibe...We saw Black, white, grey, cobalt, tomato red, sky blue & lilac....
SASS & BIDE's latest "Stand to Deliver" ready to wear collection is an array of brightly coloured, embellished, sequined statement pieces perfect for a WOW factor event...Metallic, yellows & classic black & white are a stand out for me in this collection... Sass & Bide is one of the most highly respected & well known Brands of the Australian Fashion industry & are taking the world by storm...Sass & Bide was also the most popular brand worn by the public @ MBFWA 13 the street style was won to none other than; Sass & bide....I love everything about Sarah Jane & Heidi this collection they never seem to disappoint & always push to the next level....
PHOENIX KEATING made its first foray into the MBFWA 13 & the show was described as half presentation-half runway show & was a huge hit... This label is being described as one of Sydney's fastest rising fashion brands..The collection had a couture feel & incorporated elements of western history as well as looking to the future...Thick tweeds & wool mixed with metallic draping styles from the last century were revamped with updated cuts, dramatic tailoring& a pastiche of texture...The colour remained at polar ends of the spectrum, either muted tans, khakis, greys, silver, Black & whites....I think for a first debut @ the Australian Fashion Week Wow what a show/collection.....
SHAKUHACHI stayed true to her own form... Designer Jessie White created a collection that amplify's, flatters & celebrates the feminine body.... Space age 90s girly meets florals meets nostalgic 60s..The fun sorbet coloured metallics, patchwork florals, fabrication & the use of a lot of sequins all mixed together in perfect harmony....I loved Shakuhachi & my first ever dress from this collection I still remember as my all time fav but I wore it that much I sold it before we moved to Melbourne & boy what a regret.....!!!! I loved this collection hands down my top 4 of the entire MBFWA...Very much Impressed....!

DAY # 3 MBFWA
Day #3 saw another twelve of the Australian's Best of the Best LISA HO, ALICE MCCALL, SERPANT& THE SWAN, WE ARE HANDSOME, CAMILLA, RAFLLES, BRONX & BANCO, WATSON X WATSON, VANISHING ELEPHANT, HAN, MICHAEL LO SORDON, EASTON PEARSON. but my standout fav's were;
Definitely an all time strong favourite Lisa Ho presented a wearable collection featuring cut outs, sheer panelling & softly sculptured peplums on dresses, separates & summer suits were a big hit too... White, metallic blue & an injection of Red made up Lisa's colour pallet...There were three strong prints, a graphic black & white monochrome, a pretty blue and white China plate inspired pattern & a geometric blue & black hexagon print. Always a classic for me I always enjoy the shows Lisa puts on....

My most respected & Favourite fashion Designer ever would be the beautiful CAMILLA herself...Having the privilege of working with this label for a long time & even wearing Camilla as my wedding reception dress & LOVED it...She has taught me so much & wouldn't even know how much..!!! She is vivacious & everyone who knows her bubbly fun loving vibrant personality would know that her collection would not disappoint. Not only the garments but the vibe, the mood of her shows are of the highest & most unique standard... Her collection was described as "PUTTING THE PARTY BACK INTO FASHION WEEK" Setting up a full bedouin camp in centennial park complete with indoor garden & super model Georgia Jagger leading the show.... Described as a "True fashion event"
The SS13/14 collection is called "PACHAMA" reference to the "Earth Goddess" or "Earth Mother"....This included bright prints, flowing fabrics, peruvian pipers....& tepee's my absolute FAV....
Alice McCall was definitely a top 4, her collection "Les Galeries de poison" was inspired by the ocean with the soft tones of periwinkle blue, sea shell pink & Champagne mixed with ultra marine and Mexican pink... Illustrative prints were featured throughout, on dresses, tops in either a soft blue or punchy orange while intricate beading gave simple, sheer dresses a glamorous touch...
Watson x Watson were AMAZING & most defiantly in my top 4.... The lights were laden with flower-adorned branches set the scene for a military style show that was entirely original colour palette with freshly unique designs...Leather pants in both black & silver were highlight, paired with striped cardigans and delivered with the Watson x Watson attitude portrayed through their garments....Loved every minute of this Collection....
Day # 3 WOW, WOW,WOW..........!

DAY #2 @ MBFWA
Day 2 saw another talented & action packed day ahead with KARLA SPECTIC, GINGER & SMART, FLANNEL, TALULAH, JAYSON BRUNSDON, FROM BRITTEN, MATICEVSKI, MANNING CARTEL, KAHLO, AJE, KATE SYLVESTER......Another eleven of Australia's BEST & top designers & no disappointment at all on day 2....
But my absolute favourites were as follows....
Ginger & Smart presented a geometric SS13/14 collection & staying true to their visual aesthetic, vivacious patterns and graphical colours were a key trend as well as high waisted cropped pants, block colours & exposed midriffs. the colour palette consists of Cobalt blue, pink salmon, emerald greens, black & white combo...Architectural elements were featured in the formof rectangle-shaped bags, leather cuffs & platform heals....
AJE a was a top 2 I would say....Designer duo Edwina Robinson & Adrian Norris titled the show Garden of yesterday, inspired by their own yesteryears. With Cherry blossoms hanging from the high ceilings of the Theatre...The Blossom echoed their prints in dusky pinks & pale greens, wile other elements were sand, shells & the colours of birds... they certainly lived up the their catch cry "Our essence is nonchalant glamour for both day & night time, which you can wear right through"......loved every moment of it...
Spectacular second day @ MBFWA & such a celebration of all this feminine & beautiful..Thank you Lisa Law photography of style hunter.com for the stunning Talulah images....

One of my all time young Australian ( Brisbane based ) label was & is Talulah.....The SS 13/14 collection featured on day 2 was incredible display of pastel colours that was describes as being almost edible..The cut-out back trend was carried out through the collection also, executed with an understated felinity & long, loosely floaty fabrics.
I have always loved the femininity of Talulah & they never disappoint. Lets just say next spring summer is going to be soft, pretty, fun & celebrate all this beautiful.
Manning Cartell; this sister trio Gabrielle, Vanessa & Cheryl Manning are always & will be in my top 4 for day 2 as i always remember the first pair of leather pants i owned from this label...LOVE it & them....The innovative fabrics of colour, textures & prints were integral to this collection..This collection captured the ethos of the brand "the subtle mix between polished & undone" this collection featured graphic lines, tribal polish with a mix of that urban cool & edgy.

DAY #1 @ MBFWA
For the Designers & their teams the day has come & all the prep, anticipation, nerves and the excitement would be electric.... I have been to many of my fair share of Fashion weeks & there is so much that goes on behind the scenes....If you were a guest all you would see is the stage/catwalk the music goes on to set the mood & the atmosphere would be exactly what the designers would have dreamed of & had been brainstorming since the last seasons launch.... The atmosphere is set & the collection is showcased by beautiful models....Meanwhile backstage is frantic the event co ordintators are time managing, the teams have to bring the garments in neatly steamed & handled with pure love & care, hair stylists production has had the daily brief & are doing their thing on the strictest time, as are the make up artists & making sure the hygiene is of the highest standards, models may have been booked for back to back shows & need to run to hair & make up to be re prepped for the next looks...ITS HECTIC but thats what makes the buzz, the excitement, the adrenaline pump & there not too many feelings close to it.. Thats why when you hear of a show being a success it means 1 of 2 things, it ran SMOOTHY with no miss haps & the collection was a popular & much loved show case that will be a major trend for the coming season. It EXCITES me thinking about backstage....
& may i just say what a line up to open the first day of the MBFWA 2013....Brother & sister duo CAMILLA & MARC, AURELIO COSTARELLA, BEC & BRIDGE, CHRISTOPHER ESBER, Gold coast label WHITE SANDS, ROOPA PEMMARAJU, ALEX PERRY, BY JOHNNY, GROUP SWIM, ROMANCE WAS BORN......
I'll have to be honest these 10 labels are all so different & unique but the opening sibling duo Camilla & Marc may be in my top 4 with their statement prints and the use of a palette's of white, acid blue, aqua & pale blues & stretch leather, embossed snakeskin leathers & textures of rich satins & silks....

Now for my other top 4 @ day 1 was the duo Bec Cooper & Bridget Yorston of Bec & Bridge...These 2 had a win on the catwalk with the use of Fluorescent lights tapering like fish bones illuminated of soft pinks & blues worn over slouchy pants & metallic knits with mesh panels. Then I loved the use of Plums, mint & black to combined a contemporary spin.
Alex Perry @ 4pm would have been the one show I would have made my way to...I watched this live on www.jasu.com right on 4pm on day 1 & I love the talented man that is Alex Perry regardless if he wants to take the brand in new & exciting areas however headlines are saying "Gone are the Glamour Gowns"....The man who made his name with glamour gowns & wedding dresses said "the nature of the evening dress has changed drastically & women want different things & expect clothes that work over multiple occasions" & you know what he is still my top 4 for the day... Replacing sequins, beads & corsets were silk fabrics, modern knitwear & sharp tailoring & he focused on wearable separates rather than gowns... You need to watch the show as images don't do it justice...I attached a link below...

Romance was Born was the last collection showcased @ 9pm on day 1... I still remember doing an assignment on this Artistic duo back when I was in collegue..They still live by that philosophy of fashion being the "IMAGINATION COMING TO LIFE" & this show was none other than that. Greeted by dreamy, trippy synthesised tones of Nirvana & guns & roses, it was a magic show... Frothy creations in sherbet hues of pinks & oranges, blues & greens were seen in baby doll & smock dresses, feathered pants....Luke Sales & Anna Plunkett never fail to deliver imagination bought to life..The collections always tell a story.. The style of Romance was Born is not my own style yet I always LOVED & will continue to be their biggest fans as I love seeing the Dreamy, Artistic colourful fashion they continue to deliver & the shows that they WOW me with every time....
Enjoy & Thank you Ultra book for the images.....
