Mini Trend

The classic BOB - always trendy

It’s a combination of Brigitte Bardot and Christy Turlington. The line along the bottom is very “Christy”—it’s the precise type of bob Christy had in the early ’90s—but the texture is very Bardot with the face framing softness.

Your hair is beautiful—long and gorgeous. But its getting heavy. Summer is nearly here you want something fresh that would allow more volume. You can designed a haircut together, which is a fairly unique way of cutting hair. Ask your self how short you want to go and your stylist will tell you how much you should keep long.

The Minimalist

Elegant, classic, sophisticated, Chic, Sleek = Minimalist

Less is more when it comes to the minimalist fashion trend. Minimalist fashion features unfussy, clean lines, simple streamlined silhouettes and tailoring, solid, monochromatic palette, shades of white, grey, tans, earthy shades and especially black.

One of my all time favorite styles is the minimalist. It is effortless, clean and classic. It gives an air of confidence and low maintenance. There is something so refreshing about this style and to see past and present fashionable woman moving towards this trend makes me very happy. For the "Less is more" look do not use heavy over powering makeup that is too bright use natural looking makeup soft and warm. With this look play up your hair by straightening it and finishing with a shine spray or a polished pony tail.

minimalist style is often the most difficult to copy, simply because the look is so effortless. There is hope, however. Audrey herself once claimed that the style is attainable. look to the images of the fashion icons for inspiration on the minimalist style. Gaia Repossi, Audrey Hepburn, Jenifer Aniston, Stella McCartney and most of the time chloe sevigny are perfect exampls.

Braiding spring

With summer on its way, many women are seeking inspiration for braided hairstyles that can be completed within the hairstyle. Whether the braids are used in the front of the hair and pulled back to create a braided fringe, or the braids are used in the hair to create Intricate Updos, there are many options that are available.

Light & bright

As seen on the catwalks of Luella and Christian Dior, this summer is all about the bright make-up.

For Luella, the eye shadow was heavily applied right up to the brow line, in vivid blues and pinks. This was in contrast to fellow designer, Dior, who defined a nude face with eye popping red and pink lips.

A word from the artist - The colour had to be built up over several layers to get it as bright as seen on the catwalks, so it was quite time consuming. When completed, the look really was striking, and definitely too bright for daytime. I would be tempted to wear for a night out but maybe not right up to my eyebrows!

Amanda Brooks

Classic, Bohemian, Minimalist, Street, High-Fashion, Eclectic…
What’s your style?
Finding your personal style is about discovering yourself- about embracing your creativity and the freedom to choose elements throughout the fashion universe. In I Love Your Style, Amanda Brooks uses hundreds of candid images to introduce readers to a dazzling array of style options- from the classic to the eclectic, from the icons of yesterday to the innovators of today and tomorrow.

The former creative director of Tuleh, Vogue writer, and consultant to top designers recently published her first book: "I Love Your Style," a conversational style guide that mixes personal history with lessons from style icons. Brooks' writing is down to earth, yet she can't help but come off as the cool, in-the-know sister. She uses examples from styles worn by her famous friends and other fashion icons. She admires, using photos of herself and others at A-list parties looking great and daring to be different.

This book helps provide confidence for woman to experiment, define, refine, embrace & even re-invent their own personal style. Personal style goes beyond fashion. It is how you feel in your skin when you wear clothes a certain way. Clothing can determine your mood or confidence for the day, it can make you uncomfortable when you do not feel you have found your own style, or even more frustrating if you know what your style is but struggle to compose it in your everyday dress. I combine my love of fashion with my love of creating - & in the morning rather then ask myself 'what do I want to wear today?' I ask myself 'Who do I want to be today?'. Personal style is a huge part of who you are, it is accepting who you are. Love yourself, embrace your feminity and most importantly smile .

I wanted to encourage women to find their own sense of personal style. While we are all inspired by magazines, designers, celebrities and stylists, it’s important to have the tools you need to become the person you want to show to the world each day.

Messy Top Knot

For a messy top knot, sweep the hair up and fasten. The effect is effortlessness.
On the Spring 2010 runways we saw a more elegant take on the messy top knot: rather than a messy bun hair is loosely wound around and piled on top of the head for a birds-nest look that's Hitchcock heroine meets modern-day bed hair. Look to Lanvin, Fendi, and YSL for inspiration.
Teasing and hairspray will help create the look. Works well with hair that has some soft waves and texture to it works best on hair with subtle highlights and low lights - raven black or rich brunette colours can be too blokish.
When wearing the top knot make sure you are polished and well presented when wearing casual attire it can make the look sluggish and not as fashion forward. Also when wearing this look you must have dominate eyes or a bright lipstick.

Kate Bossworth

Kate Bosworth: Vogue Italia December 09
I still remember this editorial. It is the Italian Vogue I can't understand the writing but the images and editorials are so theoretic, so imaginative.
I loved this editorial on Kate Bosworth and still continue to love it months on. I love the colour, the contrast, the simplicity of her outfits, her expressions, the hair and make up. I love the entire feel of the shoot. I'm used to seeing Kate sweet and pretty. I love seeing her a little bit edgier. She is amazing and love that she can mix up her style and look amazing in all genera's of fashion.

Archives

This image was a shot I took one afternoon on the beach where I grew up about 4 years ago. My home town is the beauiful Corindi Beach on the North coast in NSW. This day was the day after I purchased my camera. I surprised myself and Carena with the images we walked away with. This was the money shot. I wanted her to be relaxed so I made her wet her hair and dance right on sunset. Shots before this were hard and too serious. I wanted her to let go of everything and have FUN. This was the finished product of that. Four years on and still one of my favourate photographs I have ever taken.

Expression

fashion is an expression... meaning there are really no such thing as "out of fashion" because fashion is only a means of ones expression... in every humans' unique expression of their style their personality is being reflected... fashion will always be unique to everyone... fashion is an expression, a means to communicate...
Such a great philosophy to have. However there are boundaries in fashion people flirt with the line but there are no rules. !

These Images were a shoot I styled and photographed. A Brisbane label. On the images are my old email and my middle name is Louise.

be inspired & stay inspired

I am a visual person and love looking at images that amaze and inspire me. I don't like books to be closed in a book shelf I need to see them. On the coffee table or on my bed side table on my mood and inspiration boards. Often I carry them around with me daily to work and read on my lunch break. I love reading and being inspired by respected and talented designers, stylists, authors, fashion Icons and anyone that loves beauty and glamour.
Above are my top ten books along with Vogue, Harper's, Madison and Russh Magazine. I love the editorials and the fashion boundaries that continue being pushed and stretched on a daily basis. I want to be up to date with the latest trends, hair styles, make up and new up and coming Designers. It is my job to know whats hot, whats not and most importantly whats right for you.
If your in need of some inspiration these are the books you should check out. And remember go to your local library to consume yourself and get out of the house and into a different surrounding.
